Migrating your WordPress site to a new hosting provider can seem like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be. With the right steps and tools, you can easily move your website without experiencing any downtime.
The first step in migrating your WordPress site is to choose a new hosting provider. It’s important to select a host that offers the features you need for your website, such as enough storage space, bandwidth, and support for the latest PHP and MySQL versions. Once you’ve chosen a new host and set up an account with them, you’re ready to start the migration process.
Before initiating any migration process, it’s crucial to back up all of your website data. This includes your database and files that make up your WordPress installation (themes, plugins, uploads). You can use various plugins like UpdraftPlus or Duplicator which are specifically designed for this purpose. These plugins will create a zip file containing everything needed to restore or migrate your website.
Next step is importing this backup into the new hosting environment. Most hosts offer cPanel access where you can upload these files directly into public_html directory via File Manager option or through FTP client such as FileZilla if the file Quickfansandlikes size is large. After uploading files successfully onto server root directory (public_html), next big task is importing database.

Once both files and databases are imported successfully next comes updating wp-config.php file located in root directory so that WordPress connects correctly with newly created/imported database on new host server. Open wp-config.php file via cPanel’s Code Editor function or FTP client software then replace DB_NAME value with newly created database name; DB_USER with database username; DB_PASSWORD with user’s password.
Finally, after all these steps, you need to update your domain’s DNS settings. This is done through the company where you registered your domain name. You will have to replace old host’s nameservers with new host’s nameservers which can be found in hosting account welcome email or by asking support.
It may take up to 48 hours for DNS propagation to occur globally. Once completed, your website should be fully operational on the new host. After confirming everything works as expected don’t forget cancelling old hosting plan if not required anymore.
